RCPI Public Meetings

Below is a  programme of public meetings organised by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland as part of its Promoting a Healthy Nation Public Meeting Series.  Registration is now open for these meetings, and there is no charge for attendance.

Please note, however, that these meetings are ticket-only events.  To obtain a ticket you must register for the meeting.  Please visit the College’s website at www.rcpi.ie or send an email to college@rcpi.ie or call the College directly at 01-8639700 to register for the meeting or meetings of your choice.  Please note that the epilepsy, diabetes and stroke meetings will be broadcast live over the College’s website and can be accessed directly from a personal computer.  Please indicate when registering whether you would like to attend the meetings in person or if you would like to view the meeting live on the day via webcast.

The Young Adult with Epilepsy: Looking Forward to the Future

This public meeting will specifically focus on the challenge young adults face in managing their condition as they move from adolescence to adulthood.  The meeting will provide information on how best young adults can control and manage epilepsy to live a full and health life, and discuss the social and psychological effects of epilepsy.

Suicide in Ireland: A Conversation and Journey through Science and Arts
Friday, April 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

This public meeting will present conversations from recent research, captured through data, stories, vignettes and narratives associated with the lived lives of loved ones lost to suicide.  Installations created from objects, images and belongings of the deceased, donated by the families to the Visual Arts Research Project will be on view as part of the meeting.  Participants in this public gathering on suicide will be invited to be part of this conversation, to engage with the stories, and to journey through the artworks, which will be a platform for shared reflections on their experience.

The Ticking Timebomb – Type 2 Diabetes
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
