National Breastfeeding Week 2010

October 1st to 7th is National Breastfeeding week - with the theme being "Breastfeeding Support Networks".

For a list of breastfeeding support groups around the country, information for health professionals (including factsheets on mastitis, prescribing to breastfeeding mothers, contraception and breastfeeding), plus lots of practical information for mothers.

www.cuidiu-ict.ie
Ciudiu (The Irish Childbirth Trust) provide support groups for breastfeeding mothers. Co-ordinated by trained counsellors, these breastfeeding support groups provide an environment where questions can be answered in an informal

www.lalecheleagueireland.com
La Leche League Leaders are volunteer mothers who have enjoyed nursing their own babies and who see the importance of helping other mothers develop a happy nursing relationship. They have completed an accreditation programme and are familiar with breastfeeding techniques as well as current research.
They organize the monthly meetings and are available at any time to speak with a mother in person or on the telephone. For local groups, see their website.
